Artist description
Midgard was formed in March 2000 by bass player Kleber Perini with the intention to create heavy/ doom metal with influences from the 80´s. Midgard took a very promising start, with many positive on their first demo CD Self Liberty (2000) from the biggest metal publications in Brazil and Europe.
As result of this great feedback Midgard was able to play as support band for Helloween during their Brazilian tour. Also in 2001 the band recorded the second Demo CD "Lamúria", which was again very well received by the metal press and public.
After the release of Lamúria´s the band underwent a major line-up change.
Today, Midgard is:
Marcos Figueiredo: Drums,
Daniel Paes de Barros: Vocals,
Rafael Bianzeno: Guitar,
Walter: Guitar,
Kleber Perini: Bass Guitar,
Right now the band is in studio finishing the recording of its debut full-lenght CD. It will be released in Brazil by Force Majeure Records http://www.forcemajeure.hpg.com.br.The production is signed by Alex Voorhees, lead singer of Imago Mortis. |

Press Reviews
"HEAVY ODER WAS MAGAZINE GERMANY"
Midgard is a very interesting Band from Brazil,
which´s style is very hard to describe, ´cause
they´re playing real outstanding Metal!
Sometimes it reminds a bit to CANDLEMASS
or MANILLA ROAD. That menas that MIDGARD
celebrate a Mix between Doom, and epical
US Metal! Sadly there are only 2 Songs
on this CD, as an appetizer for the
forthcoming full length CD which will
be released this year. That´s the reason why
I won´t give a rating. But if the other songs
will be like these 2, then we´ll surely get
a real Killer ------------------
"UNDERTOW WEB ZINE BELGIUM"
Midgard is a new band emerging from Brazil. In
the line-up we find on vocals F.L.Y., on bass
Kleber Perini, on guitars Omar Rezende and
Fabio Vargas and on drums Vinicius Perotto.
They recorded for this debut cd two songs.
"Self Liberty" is a well structured song that
balances somewhere between power and doom metal.
The band mentions in their bio that they are
influenced by Candlemass and this becomes
obvious while listening to this song. Other
bands you can compare them to are Memento Mori
and Veni Domine. Midgard is however not a copycat,
they do have their own style. Dominating their
sound is the emotional and melancholic voice of
F.L.Y.. He sings with a clean melodic voice for
most of the time but sometimes he also growls a
bit. The second song "Pearls To The Pig" is also
a mid tempo tune with a melancholic overtone.
Overall we can say that Midgard is a band with a
lot of talent. Not that it is all gold which
shines on this recording. For example although
F.L.Y. does a good job I have the feeling he can
do better. Also the drumming could be a bit
tighter. So lets see how Midgard will develop.
I'm positive that they will grow out into an
excellent band -------------------
"INTROMENTAL MANAGEMENT DENMARK"
Hi,
I've now listened to the two songs - here is my
opinion.
The first song you sent me were very much like
old-Candlemass meets Solitude Aeturnus. Great
music - superb vocals. The second song (Pearls...)
was more aggressive and not as doomy sounded really cool
though, and the death vocals in the middle were interesting.
My first thought was : wow, this is cool - it is bringing back
a lot of great memories as I'm a huge Candlemass fan - and
the musicianship is awesome. And, after a couple of spins,
the music didn't became less interesting .. not at all!
Tell the guys I loved their music. Thanks alot for letting me listen to the tracks - they truly are good. |
