The Beginning
Matt and I (Martin) have been friends for many years.
We’ve played together in a few bands, always searching
for that musical bliss we all seek, whether we are
player’s or listener’s . In May 2000, Matt approached
Me with a song that he had written ( Shannon's Song.)
He asked if I would play the song at his wedding.
Matt was moved by my performance of the piece and
later, during the reception, we decided that we
should start playing together. At first, our
approach was very loose, "Let’s get together
and have some beers and see what develops......."
Well, here we are today still going strong and
the best of friends. The approach remains the
same!
The Philosophy
Music to Contemplate Life By. What does that mean?
We don’t really know. We only know how it feels.
It’s an energy that comes from music which displaces
us from all of our day to day events. A word, a
phrase, a combination of notes that sets you free,
taking you to a place you once were or maybe a
place you want to be. Music can just simply sooth
you in a way that nothing else can. It’s about
finding peace for a brief moment in what can
sometimes seem to be a chaotic world. Each song
is a different feeling, a different state of mind,
Matt and I have embraced the idea of finding the
essence of a song, the root, and letting the song
tell us what to do. If life were only that simple....
Oh wait, it is.
The Future
Root has currently added a new member to the duo.
We would like everyone to welcome Mike Lewis .........its
gonna get even better!!! As with our philosophy,
we felt this was a very natural move for us. We
are very excited! The Root grows a little more...............
