    Artist History
The history of Secrestat is short, but full of many twists and turns. All of the members of the band at one time or another played in another local band, 5th & Main. In the early part of 2002, Robbie Hale, Chris Young, Thomas Scoma and Jimi Cassidy started a new band but two problems existed: they didn't have a name and they didn't have a bass player. The first problem was solved one evening when the guys were hanging out and drinking at Jimi's apartment. Jimi, a bartender, had various posters of alcohol around the place. One caught everyone's eye: a vintage advertisement for a 19th century liqueur, Bitter Secrestat. It didn't take too much time (or beer) for the guys to decide that they had found their new name. They dropped the Bitter and kept Secrestat. After all, anyone who's heard their music knows that they are anything but bitter. Finding a bass player took a lot longer, but eventually good friend and former 5th & Main band mate, Chris Tunks, stepped up to the plate (or bass guitar, if you will) and the band was complete and sounding better than ever. Secrestat produced a 3-song demo in January 2002 and began working on a 4-song demo in April. However, as with many things in life, all good things must come to an end, even Secrestat. After Robbie left the band, Jimi stepped up as the new front man while maintaining his duties as rhythm guitarist. The band was able to finish one of the 4 new songs, I'm Not Cryin', with new vocals by Jim, but the rest would remain untouched. It soon became apparent that the members were all moving in different directions musically, so the band officially disbanded. Chris Young and Thomas Scoma have since gone on to work for several different cover bands and for a time they formed a rock/rap fusion group with artist Cuzin Jed. Chris Tunks has been hard at work putting together his solo CD and hopes to have it completed by the end of 2003. Jimi Cassidy has also been working on a solo CD, but various other projects, including the starting of a chain of Physical Fitness Centers, has prevented him from getting much recorded. Robbie has not been heard from since his departure, but we know that where ever he is, he's knocking 'em dead with his great voice. As for Secrestat, the band may no longer exist, but their love for music continues. There has been talk of restructuring Secrestat - taking the name and using it as the company name for a multi-media business. The business would host everything from web design to video production to a recording studio and label. Only time will tell if this comes about, but given their history, if they want something bad enough then it will happen. After all, While they'd only been together for a few short months, the band gathered a large and devoted following in the Dallas area, became regulars at The Rock in Deep Ellum (to the point that the could pick the nights and slots they wanted, something very few new bands can say) and their song, How Was I To Know?, was the #1 MP3 on AudioRealm.com for 7 weeks, a record no other song or band to this date can claim!
