Artist description
The Noontide Friends is the ongoing musical project based in Chicago. The musical process used while creating these songs varies greatly depending on each song and the collaborating musicians. While some songs are played entirely by Ed, other songs are based on experimentation and spontaneity in the studio with other musicians. The sounds range from folk, to avante garde experimentalism, oldies pop, to melodic soundtracks. Currently, the band is nearing completion of their second full-length album, to be called: “Children of Today,” and is about to turn their apartment into a recording studio to record another new EP this summer. |

Artist History
Noontide Friends began in Eugene, Oregon, where Ed attended school, and recorded an extremely lo-fi folk album called "Songs from Semiville." For the next two projects, Ed teamed up with Cellist Douglas Jenkins and proceeded to write, perform, and film a Rock Soap Opera entitled: "All Jan’s Children." The two performed the soundtrack live with the film at the University of Oregon. They also made a quiet, folky EP called "Towers," right before Ed left to return to Chicago. Once back in Chicago, Ed completed a soundtrack to a super 8 movie entitled "Postcard Address," and has recruited friends to complete a full length album of oldies-influenced, atmospheric pop music. This album is now being recorded by Edgars Legzdiens at downtown Chicago’s Blue Room Studio. While Noontide can barely be called a “band” proper, it seems that there is a chance that in the coming months an actual ensemble may begin writing and performing live. We’ll see. |
