Artist History
In the beginning, there was nothing.
Then some fateful day at university, Bastian and Tobi had another boring class and talked about their love for music and how fun it'd be to start a new band. They got together to jam a bit and just generally have fun. Soon after, Jens showed up with his bass. Back then, we were playing straight emo-pop (guess that's what it'd now be called) in the style of the get up kids. But we were still in need of decent singer. So Tobi made a tape of a band session to give out to some guy he knew that could really sing, or so he'd heard. Tobi and the mysterious singer were supposed to meet at a party to discuss matters. On this fateful evening, Tobi was hanging out at the party with some fun guy he met at the bar, but Mr. Singer did not show up. Result: Tobi was frustrated, gave tape to fun guy, guy shows up at band practice, guy is a great vocalist, name is Georg.
So that turned out just fine and we were really starting to become a band now. But may sixteen was not born yet...
We were jamming together, getting to know each other and trying to figure out what music we would like to play. Straight alternative rock seemed not so fun after a few months. Things had to be more emotional, more aggressive, more intense. We wanted to drain ourselves into our music.
Over a period of weeks, we wrote songs, jammed, experimented. Finding our style proved to be difficult, as we all have different musical tastes which we had to fuse into our own: Punkrock, alternative, metal, emo, gothic, hardcore. We fought, got lost and found our way back again, tried new things, copied others, found lots of ideas, discarded lots of ideas; It was new and intense and fun, but we progressed. At some point something was born: A band.
A band needs a stage. Said and done, the first euphoric show was soon performed in early 2001. From then on the way wound steadily upwards. We were on the road, found new friends, played all over Germany, wrote lots of new songs, recorded and produced our first CD, got addicted to the stage. And we became friends.
Now we're real rock-stars (or so it seems to us). And let me tell you one thing: The movies are all lies ! I haven't seen one wonderbra on stage yet, and where are the buckloads of gorgeous groupies invading my backstage-shower ? But it'll happen, someday... |
