Kana is a metalcore band out of the hotbed of music activity known as South Florida. It's funny how there's so many great bands coming out of South Florida nowadays, and Kana is no exception. With a full force explosion of catchy guitar hooks mashed together with brute force, Kana is a welcomed character among the ever-growing metalcore genre.Their new 3-Song EP, The Kana Sutra is simply a jawdropping juggernaut of hardcore delight. Kana has a lot in common with fellow South Florida bandmates Simplekill. Not that they play a similar style of music, or that they come from the same region. Kana, much like Simplekill, is comprised of 6 people, ranging from 16-18 years of age, and they're out there making some of the better sounding hardcore I've heard in a while. But as long as you know how to play your shit, then why should age be a problem? It's not for these kids, because their music is simply awesome. If their sound is any indication, they might as well be the next big thing in South Florida. Don't be surprised if you see them showing up a lot more often in other places soon. The first song on the EP is "Danger" which is a fast-paced guitar driven track that mellows out in the middle of the song, yet maintains its hardcore edge. The end of the song is simply powerful, and the beginning of the next song, "Houdini" picks up almost as if "Danger" were still playing. It's a great transition from one great song into another. The Last song on the disc, "Twelve Signs" is yet again a superb song. The beginning of this track showcases the bands synthesizer and hardcore uniqueness. The middle of the song slows down a bit and showcases the singing aspect of this band, which doesn't happen all too often, but when it does it's placed in there perfectly. All in all, Kana is a force to be reckoned with. With great music and great vocals to go along with it, this band is on the rise. Like I stated before, get ready to hear more about this band in the near future, cause it's going to be a bright one for them |
