Slave Stitched is an industrial-metal-with-a-twist group based in Columbus, Ohio. It has been brewing since May of 2001. Months of preparation and planning were put in to this insane orchestra of groove beats, chunky guitars, thumping bass, eerie and unusual synths, and twisted yet tantalizing vocals. To experience Slave Stitched is to exhume your deepest desires, boiling anger, and untold fears.

AFTERDARK EZINE (www.leannemstudios.com/zine.htm) Review CD - Slave Stitched At The Stake demo Rating - 8 out of 10 Review - The entrance page for their web site depicts hands that are stitched together at the edge of the palms. It's a cool picture, but sent me into a post traumatic stress flashback. A few years ago, I went to a strip bar, er, gentleman's club. I had a good time except that I accidentally sat by the stage and stuffed my rent into a strippers g-string, a dollar at a time. When I got home, I told my wife who took it really well, all things considering. She offered to make me a drink, which looking back, I never should have accepted; it was a Jack Daniels, Xanex, and NyQuil cocktail that sent me into a coma for a few hours. When I awoke, I was handcuffed, my testicles had been stitched to the waterbed using a big-game fishing line, and my head duct-taped to the mattress. The chemicals in the water of the waterbed burned my freshly stitched flesh, and my wife repeatedly dumping rubbing alcohol on my groin and burning it didn't help with the pain, regardless of what she told me. After temporarily re-living those three days of my wife screaming at me, burning me, and beating my balls with a 9-iron, and the rest of the ritualistic torture, I was able to come back to reality, wipe the sweat from my body, and proceed to pop the disc into my cd player. This 2-song demo disc coming to me all the way from Columbus, Ohio is from Slave Stitched, a 5-piece industrial metal band. After listening to the first track, sticking them with the industrial metal tag may be a bit too limiting. "At the Stake" is a haunting, hypnotic track, complete with atmospheric keyboards, chunky guitar work, and tortured, anguished vocals. "We're All Slaves" has more of an industrial-based sound, reminiscent of late-nineties NIN. Everything is more straight-forward on "We're All Slaves"; the vocals are more in your face and the music drives hard. What I like about this demo is that all of the instruments have their own voice and identity instead of following each other. The keyboards add an overall eerie feel without being annoying, the bass walks all over the place, the guitar goes from having clean almost non-existent lines to a kick-you-in-the-groin riffing, the drums just pound away with a solid rhythm, and the vocals bring everything together with a range of emotions. It's got a raw sound that's been crammed into a tight, polished package. Bottom Line - Kick ass stuff. I can't get "At the Stake" out of my head! Definitely going to be a band I'll see live.
