Artist History
Famous for their punk riffs and tight live performances, Serving Suggestion has become well known on the Cape Town gig circuit over the past two years and has performed with top South African bands such as One80, The Finkelstiens, Peculiar People and Aftertaste. Serving Suggestion recorded their first 2-track demo at Beatroute Studios in Cape Town in 2001. They then returned to the studio the following year to complete a 5-track EP "What's In A Box?" which they launched at The Newsong Festival 2002 in Hartenbos. Their single 'Grateful' reached number 2 on the UCT Radio charts last year and received lots of airplay on various other radio stations around the country, including Barney Simon's Night Zoo on 5FM. It also appeared on The Newsong Festival 2002 compilation CD, which featured other bands at the festival like Superfine, Jonno's Cure, 5 Star Society, Famous and Eminent Child.
Serving Suggestion embarked on their first coastal tour at the end of 2002, playing shows in George, Knysna, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town and making many friends along the way. They were also added to the bill for the Stage Magazine Music Festival in Cape Town and the Castle Loud MP3 Music Festival in Stellenbosch. Their music has appeared on the latest Zig Zag surfing video 'Poetry In Ocean' as well as on the Saltwater Girl / Next Big Thing compilation CD, which showcases 20 other South African bands such as Thirty Three, Idle Moment, Fuzigish, New World Inside, Pet Flyz, Hog Hoggidy Hog and Not My Dog.
The band is heading back to the studio in 2003 to start work on their new album, so be on the lookout for some new material from them very soon.
