Artist description
Green Room plays a totally original mix of Jazz/Funk that spans styles from classic P-funk style grooves, to hip-hop live house and drum and bass. Improvisation has always been at the heart of what makes the band exciting, cutting edge, and fresh. Of late these jams have reached new hights. With years of experience together, the band breathes funk. From the structure of their tight polished tunes, the grooves soar. Without fail, by the second set, the Danceflloor is united under the groove. .
This is dance music. While the band aims at nothing short of musical bliss, all efforts are in service of the dancefloor. Bandleader, Ian Beaty draws everybody in the house to the show, from the sweat soaked front of stage to those still left on their bar stools. This is all out entertainment.

Group Members
Drums: John Raham: Just might be one of the busiest man in show business. When not drumming for Green Room, John can be found playing with Kinnie Starr, the Millenium Project, and dozens of jazz projects in the Vancouver area. John has also been getting into creating electronic music since the purchase of a new computer.
Keyboards: Scott Sanft: A new and amazing addition to the group as of 2001. Scott plays multiple keyboards and has to be seen to be believed
Trumpet: Flugelhorn: Jim Bob Hovorka: Newest to the band but there's no way knowing that from his smooth appoach.
Tenor Sax: Rick Parsons: Being a Capilano College Alumni, Rick has devoted many long hours to perfecting his technique on the Saxophone. It's obvious his hard work has paid off when you hear him launch into a ferocious solo.
Bass, Lead Vocals: Ian Beaty: Ian has also been with the band since the beginning, and is still searching for the perfect martini. Ian's contributions on bass creates a solid foundation for the groove to rest on. There are few players that sit in the pocket as well as Ian does, and all while singing, no less! Ian has recently been taking UBC classes on unionization and globalization of the work force. He also spent 2 sun drenched months in Cuba this spring, studying bass and learning the Spanish language.
Guitar: Colin Brumelle: Colin has been playing with Green Room since the early days in 1993 after meeting the future members of the band at music school in Vancouver. When not playing his guitar, Colin can be found in the backcountry searching for powder with a snowboard strapped to his back, or biking on the 'Shore |
