Artist description
Dawn of Awakening's style is hard to describe, but let's give it a try. We make melodic screamo with some metal-core influences. We like to experiment with our music and we try to create an original sound. The lyrics are mainly personal and lack biased statements. More important is the enrichment one receives by self-reflection of one's personal interpretation.

Artist History
Due to problems with the formation of a complete line-up, Dawn of Awakening
didn't start rehearsing on full strength before February 2000. Before this
period, guitarplayers Sietze and Sacha, together with bassplayer Roy, laid
the foundations for the first songs by rehearsing in their small rooms and
the garage of grandmother Vink. Once vocalist Johan and drummer Boudewijn
joined, everything went very fast. On Sunday December 10th of 2000, we recorded the six songs for our
'5+1song'-demo called: .the degradation of "us". The recording part of the
demo went very smooth, but the DIY-part of artwork, samples and cd-printing
took a little (frustrating) while due to all kinds of technical problems.
But eventually it all worked out well with the 'release' of our demo in May
2001.
At 28th, 29th and 30st of januari 2002 we've recorded four new songs wich are coming out soon at Hectic Records.

Dawn of Awakening - The degradation of 'us' (demoCD)
I saw their name pass by a lot of times but I never got to hear any songs from them, and then I got their democd called "the degradation of 'us'". This demo was recorded almost 8 months ago and after hearing this democd I was kinda surprised. They play chaotic/emo/metalcore. I don't even know how to call the style they play, but it's fakking hard with some emo parts in 'em. The vocals remind me a bit of Face tomorrow at times, but most of the time Johan just screams his lungs out and creates a fakking evil sound. This democd contains 5 songs and it looks perfect. These guys put a lot of work in making the layout as kewl as possible. So all you people click on this link: dawnofawakening@hotmail.com and get this demo...it's something new... maybe you'll love it, maybe you'll hate it..... This one has my blessings......

Dawn of Awakening - The degradation of 'us' (demoCD)
Just recently I came in touch with one of the guys from this band because he also studies in the same place as I do. When he told me about his band and about them playing metalcore I thought: ok, this must be another tough-guy Hatebreed-like metalcore band. But when I heard their demo-cd I was really surprised by the great piece of music they play, the great recordings and the nice lay-out of their professional booklet. These guys proved my expectations wrong. Very metal influenced, sometimes chaotic screaming and sometimes very melodic music is what these guys make. Really amazing, diverse and passionate…I just have to see Dawn Of Awakening live. I’m very curious if they play as tight as on their cd because this is one of the best new bands from Holland that I heard lately. Interested? Just contact them through mail at boudewijn@dawnofawakening.com
Dawn of Awakening - The degradation of 'us' (demoCD)
Dawn of Awakening, hailing from the Netherlands, Utrecht. They life only 200 km from my hometown but I've never heard this band before, neither on any hardcore-bill. It's almost a year ago this 5 track Cdemo was recorded, but I still had to review it. They play heavy melodic hardcore, experienced music but the vocals are a little bit annoying to me. These guys put a lot of work in this Cd-demo and that's a pre to survive in all those releases. I hope to see this band once live, because this music I'll expect a great emotional live performance, so I hope they can make it happen. It's great to see the new school scene booming in Europe, and Dawn of Awakening makes a part of it.
