Every track on the disc really showcases singer Antonia's voice, which at times sounds exactly like Kate Pierson's or maybe it's Cindy Wilson's, and at other times doesn't sound like anyone else's but her own. I absolutely love the Carroll cover and "Prescription Cocktail," but all five tracks are worthy of some spins. Los Angeles-based punk outfit Boink delivers a raw punk-rock attitude melded with accessible pop sensibilities, which are sure to cause a bevy of A&R activity. The group is currently recording in Southern California with talented artist/producer Tommy Henriksen; he's the same guy who twisted the knobs on the demos for rock act Orco (now called Revis), which sparked a flurry of A&R interest and landed them a deal with Epic Records. Boink's sound melds elements of The Hives, The Strokes and White Stripes with a touch of Hole while adding their own unique musical touch. Boink will be performing select dates in the Los Angeles area later this month; the outfit is available for licensing, signing and legal representation.
