Press Reviews
Brad Maybe @ Friday Morning Quarterback says, "If the B-52's had originally done Jim Carroll's "People Who Died" it would sound exactly like what Boink have done with the track - bouncy and fun, yet dark and sublime. Walk of Fame, Boink's five song EP, is so much freakin' fun, you'd be more than remiss if you didn't play the piss out of it on your show. Every track on the disc really showcases singer Antonia's voice, which at times sounds exactly like Kate Pierson's or maybe it's Cindy Wilson's, and at other times doesn't sound like anyone else's but her own. I absolutely love the Carroll cover and "Prescription Cocktail," but all five tracks are worthy of some spins. I bet this one debuts next week on the albums chart and eventually finds its way to Number One. Get a hold of America's sweetheart, Rich Michalowski at First Floor to get it. Call him up at 213.625.0892."
Album Network Magazine Says:
"This is our Pick Of The Week." Los Angeles-based punk outfit Boink delivers a raw punk-rock attitude melded with accessible pop sensibilities, which are sure to cause a bevy of A&R activity.
The group is currently recording in Southern California with talented
artist/producer Tommy Henriksen; he's the same guy who twisted the knobs on the demos for rock act Orco (now called Revis), which sparked a flurry of A&R interest and landed them a deal with Epic Records. Boink's sound melds elements of The Hives, The Strokes and White Stripes with a touch of Hole while adding their own unique musical touch. Boink will be performing select dates in the
Los Angeles area later this month; the outfit is available for licensing, signing and legal representation.
Sat Bisla of A&R Network says:
"Recent Epic signing Orco, who were featured on A&R Network online before inking with Sr. VP A&R Pete Ganbarg, have changed their name to Revis. The group is currently on a nationwide tour and will release their debut single to radio early next year. The album sounds phenomenal! Tommy Henriksen, who produced the original demos that sparked the huge label bidding war for Orco, is creating huge amounts of interest on new demos for his latest project, Boink."
