Artist History
Sophia Lazopoulou
was born on the 9th of November 1974, in Thessaloniki Greece.
Her love for singing and music began to show even from an early age. She got her musical education at the "Sychrono Conservatory of Thessaloniki" where she studied pop and jazz vocals.
Since 1993 she has been professionally singing in some of the most prestigious music halls, piano bars and jazz clubs in Thessaloniki, creating a crowd of her own. She also made appearances with her own band and trio as well as participated in many recording albums, radio and tv shows.
During her career she got the opportunity to work with legendary Greek vocalists and musicians (such as members of the National Orchestra of Nothern Greece). Despite the fact that Sophia experimented in singing different styles of music, including Greek, she always remained faithfull to the music that expressed her the most, pop and jazz.
In May 2001 she took part in the european vocal competition "SARANDEV" in Dobric Bulgaria, where she got the first prize. It was her first competition and the first time the grand award was given to a foreign country.
Sophia then decided to follow her dreams and continue her musical studies in the United States after receiving a scholarship from Berklee College of Music, in November 2001.
Currently she is recording her personal album in which she has written a lot of her own songs.
She is considered to be one of the top, most promising vocalists in Greece and one of a few singers to have in her energetic such outstanding musical achievements.
