Artist History
Background Info: The five members who comprise Nachturne all came together while attending Northern Illinois University. Two members, Mark Schuth and Mike Johnson, had been long time friends who loved music—primarily the works of Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead. Malcolm Newsome, a drummer who studied well-known drummers such as Dennis Chambers and Carter Beauford, was the next addition to this duo. Even though lacking a full-time bassist, the trio played for more than a year. The addition of Kyle Hartje proved to be a turning point for the band. Kyle, influenced heavily by Cliff Burton and Flea, helped bring a new energy to the band. Nearly a year later, the band recruited Rebecca Shapiro to sit in at a show. She gelled instantly, adding rich, classically trained vocals.
Current Plans: Nachturne recently finished recording their debut CD project “…trimmed and burning” and has plans to extend their fan base by booking shows throughout the Midwest Region. In addition, Nachturne is planning to record a live CD since a studio CD is not capable of capturing the improvisations and energy that exist when they perform on stage.
