Artist description
Begun as a songwriters recording coop; Johnna White, Joe Rubin and Jim Baeszler soon found themselves itching to play a live show. Something interesting happened on that rainy night in a small Jersey Shore bar. A group of regular patrons – with no allegiance whatsoever to the quirky trio on stage – looked up from their drinks and listened to the band. By the end of a set full of infectious hooks and thoughtful lyrics, they wanted more. Such is the power of songwriting. This is GLEN CLOSER. Johnna White exercised her musical chops previously as front woman for Jersey shore favorites Count 210. Johnna brings the same enthusiasm to Glen Closer adding warm yet intricate bass playing and her accomplished vocal technique. Joe Rubin’s talents have been shared with audiences before with bands like Saint Maybe and Jersey’s own Film. Joe’s drumming provides a solid foundation for the Glen Closer material. He also adds to the band’s distinctive sound with his vocal leads and harmonies. Jim Baeszler reprise’s his role as Rubin’s partner in Saint Maybe and Film. Jim’s guitar stylings help to round out the trio’s musical arrangements. He also adds poetic lyrics to match the bands melodic sensibility. The same dedication to the craft of songwriting that captured the attention of those grizzled barflies can be found on PINE VIEW GROCERY, the debut CD from GLEN CLOSER
