Artist History
Born in Bucharest, Romania, George Baicea discovered music and the guitar at the age of fourteen, listening to Jimi Hendrix's records. Since that moment, he dedicated his life on trying to improve his guitar techniques, listening to the great masters : Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Frank Zappa, Mike Stern, Miles Davis. In 1992 he was discovered by Alexandru Andries, a very famous composer in Romania, who invited him to play in a concert, as guests of Valeriu Sterian, on December 21st, 1992. After this official debut, he participate as member of Alexandru Andries Band in several concerts : in 1993 and 1995 at the Royal Palace Hall in Bucharest, in 1993 at the International Festival "Golden Stag", Brasov, Romania and other concerts all over the country. Also, he played as guest of Alexandru Andries on about 19 albums.
His first solo album "Prins in trafic"(Caught in traffic) came out on February 24th, 2000 and it was produced by Soft Records.
His second album "Trafic Greu"(Heavy Traffic) was released on May 15th, 2001.
In 2000, he also started his own band George Baicea Magic Underground Experience and he had concerts in several clubs in Bucharest.
He composed the music for the movie "Incidentul Ankara"(The Ankara Incident).
In February 2002 George Baicea was nominated for the Romanian Musical Industry Awards, section jazz-blues. Awarding will take place in April 2002. |
