Artist History
Hi, I'm Dharmadas, and I've been making music for a long time. I started out playing skiffle with my mates and then got into rock n' roll, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino and all that. I had a band called "Cops n' Robbers" in the 60's and tou red with John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Georgie Fame, Zoot Money, The Kinks and Donovan. Those were the Rythmn and Blues days when you could tour and make a living!
I met Josie and after a few years travelling in Morocco, Afghanistan and India we settled i n West Wales and raised our family- two daughters, Samantha and Stella and our son Kelly. I had a band here called Jester Band and became locally famous, playing with some all time great unknown's: The fabulous guitarist Davey Jones, January Musson, sing e r/songwriter extraordinaire, Gary Stoloff - what a drummer! Gwyn Edwards, bassist and so many others. Where are you all now dear ones?
So we've been here ever since, running a Wholefood store and a Siddha Yoga Meditation Centre. We love to chant and we a ll play and sing. I got the name Dharmadas when I met Baba Muktananda in Ganeshpuri, India in 1982, before that I was Smudger and most people around here know me as that. For the last 15 years I've mostly been playing for chants and stuff, but last y ea r I spent 10 months in Gurudev Siddha Peeth Ashram with my Guru, Gurumayi Chidvilasananda, and by Her Grace came up with a whole bunch of songs. I've taken words from the
Vedas, and the poet Saints of India along with my own and Josie's poems. Kelly pl ays pe rcussion and Stella sings harmonies. The songs are produced and engineered by Andy Teasdale.
Hope you like them.
