Press Reviews
'Indie' or 'Alternative' music ... these terms are beginning to be as overused as an
intercepted Victoria's Secret catalogue in a 13 year old kid's room. It used to be
that those who sought something truly different could look to bands in this 'genre'
for diversity and richness in sound. Like many things these days, it just takes a
little Colombo work to find them. Noc26 is a group that belongs to the indie legacy.
Their songs are well-rooted in the world of music and art, not for the sake of fame
as much as their craft. This is immediately apparent on their IUMA site which feels
as homespun and collaborative as their tunes. 'Misery Sweet' is a jangly
progression with an off-beat drag which compliments the stop/start phrasing
of the verses. An acoustic and vocals lead you into a melodic song which seems
to be scanning the horizon for the dawn of a new day. 'The Reasons Why' leans
back from storytelling and instead presents some scratchy riffs with lendings
courtesy of Weezer with a strong, full-bodied outro... 'Plastic, Purple and Pushing
Down' returns to the acoustic to tell the story of how she talks with her eyelids
while 'High, High' keeps her just out of reach. 'Free' is a love song, pure and
simple. I get a sense of diversity from this band and that's a good thing. I would
love to get more of a common thread that makes them Noc26, but since they
were just born in 99, I think time will deliver that. There is a wide range here
spanning from an early Talking Heads feel, to The Rievers, to Weezer and back
around to Sundays (music-wise) on some of the slower tunes. All-in-all... local
band from Oxford, PA does good - keep it comin'. Peace - Blake.

The new sound is like a resivour in a quarry...seemingly simple but frighteningly
deep.

Noc26 "Clearance 6'10"" NEW
It's hard to find indie rock bands that can be enjoyed by everyone. noc26 is one of those bands.
Blending Indie- College Rock with heart and soul rock n roll. Very radio friendly but still has the ability
to rock. It reminds me of Jimmy Eat World with Weezer-type harmonies. There are four songs on this
CD and it looks pretty DIY, but it's still a good time.
