Artist History
What do you get when you cross four punk guys with morals and instruments? You get Surefire, pop-punk from Idaho. Or, "Punk from the Heart..." as the band is known as. "We are labeled as 'Punk from the Heart' because we aren't like your basic punk band," drummer Nyk Zukowski says, "We express our music through ethics and morality rather than depicting violence and aggression."
As with any true punk band, whether they have morals or not, they are proud to say that they stick up for what they believe. Surefire is no different. One of the most frequently asked question about Surefire is if they are a Christian band or not. "We are not necessarily any type. We have morals and praise God, but we are not perfect...we have a secular side and a sense of morality. That is what makes us unique."
The true beginning of Surefire dates back to about late fall of 2001 when Surefire actually put effort into what they were doing. The four-piece punk band was off to humble beginnings, but soon disrupted after a few shows and one CD. Bassist Tyler Neisinger had left the band to pursue other interests. But that wouldn't stop Surefire from achieving their dream. Guitarist Marcus Burzota's cousin, Kyle, filled in for Neisinger. The current line-up includes Jes Snavely, Marcus Burzota, Kyle Burzota, and Nyk Zukowski.
All in all, Surefire's songs relate to the everyday struggles of being young. Their music centers on girls, video games, God, and other off-the-wall subjects...
Without a doubt, Surefire is what they say they are--Punk from the Heart...
