    Artist description
Originally starting life as a groove based stoner/doom band, Silverburn have, over their short lifespan, become a lot darker and heavier and can now only be described as a diverse metal band. The first EP (2001's "godisnowhere") has more than a few hints of what the band are capable of, but after a mere 8 months together, taking in many gigs and gaining local support, Silverburn have started to find their own feet and feel that newer material is becoming more diverse, heavier and original. With Bradford's Heavyfest and Leeds' Dungeonfest and Unity Day under their belt, the future is to try and break out of Yorkshire and continue to write and record with a view to the band carving their own little niche in the metal genre. A full length album is to be expected early 2002.

    Artist History
BAND HISTORY: August 1999: Izak (guitar and ex-Chorus of Ruin) and Lee (drums) began jamming together shortly after Lee had left his previous band. Based in the Bradford/Leeds area, they were originally joined by Webbo (Ex-Chorus of Ruin) on guitar and Rob (Ex-Serenity) on bass and began writing songs influenced by Trouble, Saint Vitus & Kyuss. November 2000: Paul (Ex-Iron Void) joined on vocals. Paul had already been jamming with Tom (Ex-Come to Grief) and Stuart, who played guitar and bass respectively, on a different project and brought them into when the previous guitar and bass player left Silverburn in December. Within a very short period the riffs that Izak and Lee originally began working on progressed into complete songs with more diversity starting to shine through, and the band became very tight, very quickly. Paul’s high, clean vocals gave the band a bit of originality against the majority of the doom/stoner scene, and worked brilliantly with the bands groove based rhythms and down tuned riffs. January 2001: On 15 January 2001 the website went live at www.silverburnt.co.uk. February 2001: After a couple of months of jamming and writing together, the band played their first gig on February 3rd 2001. Well attended and warmly received, the bands own brand of heaviness and rumbling bass had glasses vibrating off the bar. A few more gigs in that month started to build support for the band. March 2001: On the 24th & 25th of March, the band took four of their best songs into the studio to make the refreshingly heavy “godisnowhere” EP. April 2001: Saturday 28th The HeavyFest 2001 celebrating 20 years of the 1 in 12 club in Bradford. July 2001: Saturday 21st The DungeonFest Leeds. August 2001: Saturday 4th Leeds Unity Day. On the 7th & 8th the band took to the studio again to record two songs for a compliation CD due out in October 2001. October 2001: Silverburn parted company with vocalist Paul. November 2001: Matt (Ex-X-ile, Crosstown & Pazuzu) joins on vocals. February/March 2002: Brief name change to 'Stonegate' then 'Burn Horizon' then back to Silverburn. April 2002: Voltage Records 'Aural Quagmire' Compliation CD is released featuring 2 new tracks by the band. June 2002: Saturday 15th June The HEAVYFEST II at the 1 in 12 Club, Bradford.
