Artist description
Mike Taylor and Peter Dyer grew up together in Honolulu -- surfing, skating, and listening to rock, reggae, and hardcore punk. After moving to Seattle, they formed One Time Through in 2001.
When you listen to the music on their debut e.p. and forthcoming album, you hear traces of those influences bleeding together. Produced by Martin Feveyear (The Briefs, Rosie Thomas) at Jupiter Studios through the winter of 2002-03, the record's songs consist of unexpected chord changes and shifts in feel and timing -- but always with hummable melodies (such as in the radio favorite, "St. Mary’s Lake"), Peter Dyer's tenor often leaping to a strong falsetto above the guitar feedback.
The rhythm section, comprised of recent transplants from Bremerton (John West on bass) and Washington D.C. (David Sherwin on drums), provides counterpoint with fluid basslines and galloping drum fills.
The band's debut EP, "Not Safe to Fly," was released in the summer of 2003. It has received airplay on The End 107.7 FM's "The Young and the Restless."
