Artist History
Highland Drive, a compilation of voice, guitars, bass and drums, is a band with a broad range of musical influences within the punk/emo/hardcore genre as well as mainstream and traditional rock music. It's this blend of styles that makes them a difficult band to place into just one category. It has also helped them generate a following composed of everyone from the most dedicated local music fan to the avid radio listener.
"We write our songs with the intention that they should convey as much meaning to our listeners as they do to us. So our music, while mainly influenced by heavier styles, tends to walk a line between the punk/hardcore genre and a more radio-esc sound." - Says guitarist Buddy Rodgers.
The band is comprised of Jack Portwood (Vocals, Bass Guitar), Matt Faulisi (Guitar), Buddy Rodgers (Guitar), and Emmet Van Etten (Drums). They began playing music together during their high school years in the Upstate New York City of Corning. Shortly following graduation they recorded their first full length CD "Trapped" at Pyramid Sound in Ithaca New York and remained in close contact with the people there following it's release. Trapped helped the band gain some much needed experience and two years later the band returned to Pyramid to record a more focused 5 song demo with Alex Perialas and Jason Arnold which is scheduled for release as soon as possible.
Currently Highland Drive performs as often as possible, mainly in the Rochester/Buffalo area, in the effort to support their upcoming release and to increase their ever-growing following. Some of the bigger clubs they have played include Showplace Theater and Cloud Nine, both in Buffalo, NY. In addition to recording and performing with Highland Drive, the band members are also attending various colleges and as always writing songs.
