Artist description
Flutist MATEJ GRAHEK (b. 1974, Slovenia - Europe)
is the principal flutist of the Slovenian Philharmonic
Orchestra. He studied under Professor F. Rupel at the
Ljubljana Academy of Music, graduating with distinction
in 1997. During this period he won several first prizes
in competitions. Between 1997 and 1999 he completed
postgraduate studies at the Academy of Music(under
Professor F. Rupel), while also studying under world's famous
flutist Irena Grafenauer at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. (Austria)
He performs as a soloist, with the Slovene Philharmonic,
Big Band RTV Slovenia and in various chamber groups
both at home and abroad. He records for the Radio
Slovenia music programme. He is also the winner of the music
award "Zlati Petelin" (slovenian Grammy) in the year 2001
for the best solo album called "Opus di Jazz"
