Artist description
A singer songwriter from her first weeks with the guitar, Kenya-Lee cut her musical teeth
in the artistic community around San Francisco, Califiornia. She was a weekly regular at
the Drinking Gourd, performing new original material at each performance for over
three years. She also owned and preformed in her own coffee house, ‘Runway Five’ in
Sausalito. She opened shows for acts such as ‘Quicksilver Messenger Service’ and
‘Jefferson Airplane’. Being a staunch individualist, she turned down several record
deals when asked to give up control of her own direction and material. She has
maintained her astonishing prolific creativness through raising a family. Once, during a
short break in a recording session, the crew needed a break for a few minutes to, “work
something out”. When the producer came to find her she had a new song ready. He
listened in stunned silence and then decided to use it in the project. This kind of
on-the-spot writing, combined with her penetrating insight, has earned her the nickname
- “The Emotional Six O’Clock News”! For the most part, the songs you will find here
are written recently and represent some of the best she has ever done. |
