Artist History
Pianist John Nilsen is one of the most successful recording artists in the Northwest. With over 350,000 records sold, Nilsen can be seen performing his original instrumental pieces of jazz, classical, folk and rock throughout the United States and elsewhere in the world. Born in 1956 in Seattle, Washington, John and family have been residents of Oregon since 1960.
Influenced by The Beatles, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Pat Metheny and Bruce Cockburn, Nilsen (a graduate of Sunset High School), tried his hand at rock & roll, serving as guitarist/vocalist for several bands in the '70s and '80s.
Presently John is performing both solo piano concerts and concerts with the John Nilsen Group. Look for him on Magic Wing CD's and cassettes.
