Well, to tell you the truth kids, YBS is not even a band anymore. Yeah, the Behind the Music:YBS is coming out in mid-December, but here is a preview. YBS originally began with the great minds of Eric and CW. They decided that they wanted to make a punk rawk band. Eric could play drums and CW could play bass. Problem one, neither of them could sing or play guitar. Problem two, neither had a drum set or a bass. So together they found the lovable always hospitable "Dan". "Dan" had both the drum set and the bass guitar, but didn't know how to play either, so they were allowed to use the equipment. They then went to track practice and searched around and found that Dan (a different and much more handsome one) and Mike shared the same musical tastes. Mike had a nasty voice and Dan could play guitar like nobody's business. Not long after, the five got together in "Dan"'s basement and started cranking away tunes. The first song they played together was "Who are we", a little diddy Mike wrote. However, it wasn't until their second song when the first hint of awesomeness rang out of YBS. "Sterling" became the band's first hit. Almost every girl in the junior class knows the chorous. This song involved a bit of ska influence, so the guys asked if buddy Brandon could help out on trumpet. He leaped at the chance and the band was YBS began rocking away. Now every year in Sterling, there is a large event to generate money for cancer research: Relay for Life. At the Relay, local bands show off their stuff in the name of charity. YBS decided that it was time to show the world what they were made of. So they signed up to play. The night before the show, CW decided that he didn't want to play in the show. Brandon took over on bass and Mike relearned the trumpet parts. At the show, the boys were a little nervous, but the crowd loved them anyways. After the show, YBS was scheduled to play at the 2001 Slopfest. This was to be the last show of Erik's career, because he was moving down south to Florida. The gig was washed out due to a crucial thunderstorm. The band took a three week hiatous. Everyone cleared their heads and got back to writing and practing. When the break was over, Mike, Dan, and Brandon had to find a new drummer. Andy had jammed with them before and they he really showed a lot of energy and talent, so they asked if he wanted to join. Andy gave everyone a bear hug and he was in. The summer brought lots, and lots, AND LOTS of new stuff. So many new songs and so little time. The guys gelled quickly and began work on the new set. But the guys wanted something new, something that not evey band has. They agreed that two basses would be awesome. Mike knew just the guy. His neighbor, Bryce, was a master basser. Bryce wanted in and quickly became the all-time funniest man in YBS. Matt had a little stint in July as the saxamaphonist, but decided that he would rather be hanging out with cheechees. But the biggest thing of the summer was "Falling for my best Friend". It became a fan favorite. So the school year progressed and the boys played millions and millions and dozens of shows. People loved them and they loved the people. (ie Foudy) But anywho all good things have endings. So at the end of the year, Mike and Bryce graduated and moved on to college. So obviously the band had to move on. Now Dan, Brandon, and Andy are in a band called "B-League Champions", while Mike is in a band called "I Love Karen Oliver", and Bryce is in a band called "Clearly, I am the smartmest man alive"
