    Artist History
The Grey started sometime in the year 2000 with Jake on lead/rhythm guitars, Adam on drums, Doug on keys, and Ryan on lead/rhythm guitars. The cast changed after that with several people coming in and out of the band. But, we acquired Rob on the bass, background vocals, and numerous other things. The Grey has an energy all their own, melding many different styles of metal (and some that aren't) into one cohesive sound.

"The five guys of The Grey are unabashed fans of heavy metal. They live, eat and breathe it. And it showed as the band laid down a powerful, yet diverse, metal groove last Friday at Michel Angelo's. In fact, the band manages to effectively merge several different styles of metal into one unified sound. I heard traces of power metal, doom metal, Euro-metal and black metal during the band's set. It's like they take all their influences, throw them in a blender and then blast them through the speakers in order to create the perfect headbanging moment. And it's all totally intentional. The guys say they listen to all different types of metal and try to incorporate these different styles into their sound. For instance, their song "Broken" sounds like old-school 1980s thrash complete with a ripping solo from guitarist Keith Pearson. While "Stuck in the Grey" lurches along with menacing power chords that would make Tony Iommi proud. The band's lyrics deal with personal issues. In fact, Pearson told me that a majority of their songs are concerned with facing your inner demons and conquering them. He cited the song "Haunted Inside" as an example. Even though they only have seven shows to their credit, the band looks like they are headed in the right direction. Their live show is one big heavy metal meltdown. I wouldn't expect anything different from these dudes. It's a lesson in Headbanging: 101. Vocalist Joseph A. Morbius alternates between a clean, crisp delivery and an evil growl, while guitarists Ryan Bis and Pearson spit out thick metallic slabs of distorted riffs. I was also impressed with the way both Pearson and Bis can solo. They both can deliver short, stinging solos that go down quite smoothly. The rhythm section of bassist Rob McCreesh and drummer Adam Trzazkos provide solid thumping beats for the rest of the band to play off of. The Grey seem to be off to a good start. I really enjoyed the enthusiasm and energy they bring to their multi-faceted heavy metal roar. They definitely love playing metal and it shows. I'm just hoping that this love of metal will keep the band together so that they can really start to do some serious musical damage." - Thomas Pizzola, Hartford Advocate April 24, 2003. "I also had a chance to see power metalheads the Grey plow through a heavy set. The band played a new song, "Breaking the Circle," which featured some nice solo interplay between guitarists Ryan Bis and Keith Pearson. It fits fine into the band's oeuvre. I was also impressed with the musicianship displayed on the instrumental "Chasing The Dragon" especially the thudding bottom end provided by drummer Adam Trzazkos and bassist Rob McCreesh. After watching both the Grey and Aggressia it was clear that the Hartford area has its share of decent metal bands." Thomas Pizzola Hartford Advocate May 29, 2003.
