    Artist History
A little about me.... I was an import from Canton, Ohio where I gained a love for music at quite an early age. I learned to play drums and guitar, and at age 15 fell in love with recording after getting my own 4 track. Then I decided to head for the big city (L.A.) at the ripe age of 17 to pursue music. Attending Musicians Institute in Hollywood for guitar I realized I didn't like the idea of being instructed on how to play rock guitar. So I moved on to training at Los Angeles Recording Workshop in North Hollywood where I took the full 600hr. Audio/Video program, finishing in 1994. All the while I was working with various music projects of my own and other artists' with my own humble setup. After school I served a short sentence at MILAGRO SOUND RECORDERS (now Backroom Entertainment) in Glendale, CA where there was constant interaction with large clients (like Brian McKnight, Kings X, Stan Ridgeway, Jeremy Toback). There I learned a good deal about making records. I started to develop my own ideas on how to make records, learning the do's and don'ts from the big studios. Desiring the ability to choose the material I work with, I started Sanity Sound in early 1995 in Santa Monica. There I did a vast amount of diverse work, ranging from ADR, Alt. Rock, Rap, Musicals, Metal, to Country. Settling into my groove as a guy that is best at getting sounds and performances from Rock/Pop musicians, I began working with artists like Beth Hart, Michael Bland (Prince) and Rust Epique (Crazy Town), and engineer/producers like Dennis McKay (David Bowie), Chris Page (T.V. and Film composer). I started to become known in the scene. To keep the artistic juices flowing I also started my own band (hbbq) handling vocal and guitar duties. As the opening act for English Beat, Gene Loves Jezebel, Café R&B, playing improv jams with Sal Marquez (Zappa) we created a stir. Meanwhile, I was meeting up with veteran engineer/producer Jim Cypherd, picking up lots of studio trickery and discovering that it's not just the equipment you use, it's using it creatively. Then in January of 1999: the big move out of the busy, ill-fated building in Santa Monica to a new space in Burbank. There I built a studio with Jim Cypherd leading the design (and of course got in over my head with the building, but hey, that's life). So 1999 goes by, having worked with Jennifer Love Hewitt, some of our work landing her a publishing deal. I also mixed drummer/composer Kurt Wortman's (Andy Summers Band, Spirit Dance) solo record. So By 2000 I had assembled a new lineup of (hbbq) and recorded our debut CD releasing it on Sigh-cotic music. I then met up with Bart Walsh from the David Lee Roth Band to work on his solo productions. I also worked with Fibre Hevy Brain, who had a track in the feature film Being John Malkovich, on their 3rd CD. Recently I have worked with Tricky (Hollywood Records)and have finished the 2nd full length Human Barbecue(HBBQ) CD.
