Artist History
Born in Newcastle, England, 1978. Currently living in Manchester, England. Always a musical child, I played many instruments while at school, including french horn (badly), viola (very badly), recorder (banned from the church orchestra) and most importantly, keyboards. Obsessed with music since my parents bought me a second hand, wind powered Bontempi Organ at the age of 8 (and subsequently learning to play the theme tune from "Last of the Summer Wine" note for note) I carried my musical talents through school, and at home once discovering the delights of the ATARI ST and MIDI sequencing. A few years after leaving school, I started work as an IT Support Technician at a local college, where I works to this day. The trusty old ST was eventually sacked in favour of the exciting potential of the PC, and I have never looked back.
The whole PRELEKTRIC thing started in January 2000, when I purchased a piece of software called MAKING WAVES - a sample sequencer for the PC. Upon fiddling with it for what seemed like ages I finally produced something that was half decent, and from there discovered what a really versatile piece of software it is.
12 months later I had enough tracks to create an album, and thus "BITS AND BYTES" was born. A fully produced product (with proper CD inlays etc) was finally finished in April 2001.
An upgrade to my PC system (namely a Sound Blaster Live! Card and a copy of Cubase) meant something new to play with and a dramatic loss of sleep, food and hair. Cubase is incredibly powerful but it's not very easy to learn apart from the basics. After a while I'd managed to use Cubase to get some patterns down but still arranged and added effects using MAKING WAVES.
However, as time has gone on and I've become a little more confident with Cubase (roughly translated as "being arsed to actually read the manual") and many recent tracks I have been able to do them entirely in Cubase. Thanks to a sudden burst of inspiration through certain recent events, I'm well on my way to finishing the new album - entitled "ECLECTIC DREAMS" - and also a small distraction in the form of an EP entitled "VIDEO NASTY"
