Artist History
Ever since their conception in 1994, the four-piece known professionally as Gods Reflex has been slowly gaining momentum with their unique brand of emotional pop/punk. Their style, which has been compared to that of Jawbreaker, Sunny Day Real Estate, and even REM, has earned them a healthy following in Chicago and across the country. The Rockford quartet makes its recording home in Chicago based record label Johann’s Face Records (Smoking Popes, The Alkaline Trio) and receives worldwide distribution Mordam Records (distributors of Jade Tree and Asian Man Records). In January 1997, Gods Reflex released their debut record “A Brief Lesson In Affection.” to critical praise. The band sold out their first two pressings of the album. Gods Reflex began to develop their live show at Chicago’s legendary Fireside bowl and at the Metro. The band spent the next two years touring with acts such as The Alkaline Trio, Hot Water Music, and The Promise Ring. Gods Reflex received praise for their exciting live show. The band is preparing to tour again in support of its sophomore album, “Scenes From a Motel Seduction.” Recorded by studio ace Dave Trumfio (Wilco, The Anniversary), “Scenes” shows the group as more mature and understanding of their art, and shows a promise of much more from these 21 year olds in the future.
