Artist History
Jodl Gazvoda began playing guitar as a teenager. He soon joined the band "Sedmina", which enjoyed international success with their ethno-style music. After many successful concerts all over Europe the band broke up in early 90's. After few years Jodl formed "Valhala" together with Uros Rakovec, a professional guitarist, Damjan Kosir (bass-guitar), Ivo Golmajer (drums) and Domen Rakovec (synthesizer). Their first album (titled "Valhala") was issued in 1995 and was very electrically coloured. After very good reviews by music critics and live gigs Domen left the band because he had to concentrate on studies completely. Their second album titled Black Cat("Crna macka" in Slovene) was issued in 1997 and is more acoustic. The band is currently preparing for an international tour. |

Press Reviews
"After all the album Black Cat of Valhala is a very courageous make which isn’t oriented on current musical tensions but it represents timeless music." -- Album of the Week, Vikend magazin (Slovenian weekly magazine); "Simply for the reason that the make of Valhala is pure instrumental, is therefore on our market infrequent exception but their live concerts show us that the audience is thirsting after such sound which isn’t coming into ears right after the first hearing but requests more deepened listening." -- Review of album Black Cat by Lado Jaksa (well-known Slovenian music critic); "The whole concept is extremely brave musical act according to the fact that most of the composers are oriented only into the plain commercial style which possibly brings more money but less power. The fellows from Valhala insist in their strong tendency. ... and this must be encouraged. ..." -- Slovenske Novice (Slovenian daily newspaper) |
