Press Reviews
Loud, fast, and trashy in the venerable tradition of Question Mark and the Mysterians crossed with the Ramones, the Witchdoktors also owe a couple of spiked beers to everyone from The Cramps to The Seeds, their approach rarely deviating from a substantial sonic barrage, penetrated from time to time by stabs of Vox Continental organ, filthy bass, howling harmonica and the earthenware growl of Andy Last. They cross Steppenwolf with The Monkees on stand-out track of the Brain Machine LP, “Reach Out”, and dip into an unexpected well of regret for the churchy doomfest “All We Wanted”. If you can go with the flow and your volume control is set at 11, this is a lot of fun. **** Q Magazine -
With a distinctly retro feel to their music, The Witchdoktors sound not unlike the Doors of the Jim Morrison era, but that isn’t the whole picture; the weirdness that propels this crazy posse is strangely attractive. Is it any accident that while opening my ears to their punked up, garage-fuelled toons, I feel in dire need of some kind of medicinal remedy ? The Witchdoktors are great and but if this CD carried a cure for the common cold, they would be truly awesome ! *** Metal Hammer
