Artist description
This industrial hard rock four piece combines deep moody synthesized keys, serious penetrating bass, heavy grinding rhythmic guitar, pulsating massive beats, and provocative intense vocals to create a sound that is uniquely their own. Artist History
NCi was formed in early 1997 in Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada. CRiS and diVid had been playing in a alternative rock band called "Origin Unknown" for about a year. The band went through a number of lineup changes and became increasingly unorganized. CRiS and diVid left and joined their longtime friend Raz, who had already started writing songs on his computer. The three of them began writing some demo material and New Critical illness was born. Near the end of 1997 CRiS and diVid decided to relocate to Langley, BC, Canada. Even though the band was not able to work together they still kept writing and working on material separately. Eight months after CRiS and diVid moved to Langley, Raz decided to join them and the band was back on track. The band eventually wrote and recorded material for their first indie album "Divine Infection", which was released October 1999. The album was recorded in a small apartment using only a computer, mic, a effects board for the vocals and a cheap electric guitar. They sold some copies of the album but did not have the setup to play live shows to promote it. They knew that they would have to change their direction forthe next album. In May 2000 the band began writing brand new material with all new equipment and a new rehearsal space. The new material included elements which the band did not have before including a stronger textured sound and the ability to be played live. With live drums, bass and keyboards now in the mix, all that was missing was a guitarist who could fit into the direction that the band was heading. In October 2000 the band met a guitarist named Bo, an amazing musician who fit into the band right away. Bo, CRiS, Raz, and diVid began working on new material in the summer of 2000. The band quickly perfected a number of songs and began preparing a live set. NCi played their first public show together in March 2001. Since then they have continued to play live shows while preparing to record their first studio EP together. In June 2001 the band made their first demo recording of the new material with the song "Disrepair" and shortly after they went into the studio to begin recording their first EP called "d i l a t e". Recording took place over several visits to the studio during 2002. After the final mixing and mastering "d i l a t e" was released May 31, 2003. The EP includes five songs as well as a video for the song "Final Division" which is playable on most computers. Also, there are lots of live shows booked in the Vancouver area throughout the spring / summer of 2003. At present, the band has begun pre-production on a new full length album which they hope to have ready for early 2004. Keep checking this site for live show announcements as well as new music.......
