Introducing DEIRE
What K's Choice did for Belgium, DEIRE might do for Holland. Just listen to DEIRE's first album to experience a wide variety in 12 romantic and rootsy songs, full of melancholy and haunting melodies. This debut, called 'A Muse' was produced by Dutch top-producer Frans Hagenaars who worked with Dutch international bands like Bettie Serveert, Johan and Caesar.
In Holland, DEIRE has played opening shows for bands like Posies, Dodgy, Flowers for Breakfast and Mutton Birds. Anyone who ever saw DEIRE live will acclaim that this band can play. And that lead singer Nicoline, using her voice, has the ability to touch her audience. And that Bart Hijlkema plays the violin in a very spectacular way. And overall, that DEIRE brings a very strong and intense live-show.
Listening to DEIRE's music, you would not suspect this band to have its origin in the continent of Europe. And listening to 'A Muse', some say DEIRE has an Irish touch (Bart Hijlkema playing acoustic guitars and violin), but mostly people think they are dealing with an American band. This is not particularly strange, as the band claims to be influenced by American acts like Sheryl Crow, Aimee Mann and Counting Crows. Anyway, these influences, among many others, have enabled DEIRE to become what it is now: a promising band with an outstanding first album.
