Artist History
Raised in the sweltering heat of southeast Texas, young Brady grew up hearing the country strains of Willie Nelson & Waylon Jennings. Then, for his 11th birthday his older brother bought him a copy of the Beatles' Revolver. That changed everything. "I wanted to be Ringo." Post high school years found Brady in London, down and out (in Paris, too) busking for lunch and pint money in the London underground. Lean times continued back in Texas where Brady fronted a band called Mullberry Jane which would later become the Solid Goldsteins, who released "No Place Like Gone" in 1993. By 1994, the Solid Goldsteins were gone, too. Brady soon departed for L.A. and in 1997 released "Next Door To Nowhere". Brady lives in Venice and performs shows in the LA area. Press Reviews
GOOD LUCK STRANGER makes TOP 10 OF 2000 @ POP CULTURE PRESS - "An addictive set of Lennon-shaded country-rock, Harris is a smart, literate songwriter with melodies to make him a dangerous commodity in an increasingly mediocre genre" ---Matt Fink, Pop Culture Press; "GOOD LUCK STRANGER gets my highest recommendation."---Ron Garmon MEAN STREET MAGAZINE; "One of the finest albums I've heard this year...This music is timeless." ---Jon Worley AIDING & ABETTING; "The shadow of Westerberg looms large here, although at times one detects a subtle hint of Johnny Thunders' more sensitive moments, as well as the Gram Parsons-era Stones". ---Arthur Brennan, BAM Magazine; "Ex-Solid Goldsteins frontman Brady Harris' lyrically insightful, solidly crafted solo debut Next Door to Nowhere trades his former band's Replacementsesque rumble for a more introspective singer/songwriterly direction, with lyrically smart and musically solid results". ---Scott Schinder, Pulse! Magazine; "Australian pop with twang...Nashville by way of the Replacements" ---L.A. Times |
