Press Reviews
"Cassidy Bisher is an alchemist, transmuting the basest chords into precious metal structures akin to true musical DNA. He is an extraordinary songsmith, both in craft and performance, availing his wit through delightfully petulant hooks and a sweet yet darksome vox (check out "Clash of Arms"- Rollercoaster infection CD - to taste the true range of Bisher's ubiquitous vocals). Part of the band "Aventine", Bisher and his bandmates personify the "art" in "artist". Their songs are deeply layered textures of story and song; rich, bright epics conceived with a passion for grand orchestrations gilding a true moral compass. The chemistry between Bisher, Needham, Diaz and Ploeg is unmistakable. They seem a somewhat less-than-accidental group of benefactors of both greater tunes and the greater good. "Hearing No a Thousand Times" is an exquisitely produced piece that demonstrates the true confluence of this band. Not only do they fit together as a foursome, they seem unapologetically at home with the richness of a 21-piece orchestra behind them. You'll find a similarly unlikely hero avenging the dearth of fresh approaches in "Peanut Butter Lotion", perhaps an odd moniker for such an elegant score, but one that capably decamps the myth that musical originality is dead. Aventine discharges their unique brand of intoxication in the most delicious ways. Don't stay hungry. Head for a fix ..." Sue Braiden, columnist on Canada's largest national radio network.
