Artist History
Will Scott was raised in Indianapolis, IN, and Chicago, IL. He moved to Los Angeles in 1999, and began his work on Solo Electric Blues. His work as a solo artist follows his first album, Too Damn Cold, with The Forecasters. Scott got his first big break with a band led by Tom Harold, and later formed and led The Forecasters, opening for Anson Funderberg and Sam Myers. He has performed live radio shows, and on television with a session done for the B-town Sounds (a nationally distributed public tv production).“When I moved to California, I decided to focus on my solo act and on songwriting. My work is rooted in the Mississippi sounds of Fred McDowell, Junior Kimbrough, R.L. Burnside, and my early Chicago influences.” Scott draws from the Mississippi blues tradition of Fred McDowell, R.L. Burnside, and Jessie Mae Hemphill, the Chicago sounds of Magic Sam, Hound Dog Taylor, and John Lee Hooker. Original songs and soulful covers are the focus of this new project. |
