Artist History
The Sess, originally from the San Diego area,
have been playing music together consistently for
the past 4 years. Within those years they've
developed more than just band chemistry; the time
has been well spent experimenting with sounds,
songwriting techniques and creating something that
they are proud to claim as their own.
There are four members in The Sess, all of which
are experienced songwriters with their own style.
An example of a few mentors or inspirations would
include: Brian Wilson, The Who, The Clash, The
Kinks and The Beatles. The actual sound itself is
more of a soulful rock (not garage, not
alternative not electro-clash, just good soulful
rock and roll).
Members Mark (bass) and Sam Rivera (guitar) are
brothers who have been playing music together
from a very early age.In their high school years
they started a band with cousins Andrew (drums)
and Daniel Montoya called Logos. A band with a
very strong San Diego following still to this day.
(Daniel Montoya later went on to join a band by
the name of Dogwood.)
The guys met up with (guitarist) Jeremy Rojas in
1999 and everything fell into place. The sound was
right, the vibe was right, the time was right.
From this point The Sess have been writing and
preparing material, playing shows in the
California area, recording and developing a
following in the Los Angeles area.
When you’ve got something good you’ve got to make
it better; successfully so, The Sess have done
just that, and will continue to so as they are
serious musicians with a strong passion for the
art. Let the music speak for itself and it will
say wonderful things to your body and your mind.

Press Reviews
"So, okay, I'm on a roll here in terms of hot
sounds and good vibes. It is, indeed, good times
with Riverside's THE SESS, who have been popping
up here and there at venues like The Hub in the
last couple of months to the happy sighs and
bobbing heads of many a pseudo-hipsters and
closet Rolling Stones fan. The Sess (pronounced
"Thuh Sesh") have got that whole irreverent,
lo-fo, nostalgic minimalist '60's rock thing
down to an absolute art-cool. Light, off-key
and strained vocals combined with dancing,
clean guitar tones (distortion? Who needs
distortion?) as well as a very welcoming,
small-sound-but-big-crowd kinda vibe. Their
button reads "SESS TIME" and there certainly is
no better time than now."
