    Artist History
The band Stentorian has taken on many different forms over the years. Originally started as a jam project between legendary blues guitarist Adam Aft and drummer Paul Lefkowitz, the band stalled for awhile due to the lack of a bass guitarist, rhythm guitarist and vocalist. The former was solved quickly enough; at the beginning of his Freshman year, Paul met up with bassist Richard Smith, and the band began to take shape. Paul and Richard, although huge metal fans, played the blues with Adam for experience and fun, occasionally slipping in a Metallica song when no one was looking. The rhythm guitarist/vocalist search dragged on long and hard, eventually attracting Mike Hildbold to the band. Initially named "Rusty Spoon", the band began to take on a more noticeably metallic sound, leaving only bluesy solos. Renamed "Stentorian", the band played a few gigs and wrote a few songs with moderate success before dissolving due to internal conflict. Adam left the band due to time constraints and also his own desire to play music with less of an edge. Mike sought other employment, leaving Paul and Richard. Turning to the Internet, Paul and Richard were able to recruit follow metal enthusiast Chris Valentino to fill the vacant rhythm guitar spot. After several months of productive jamming, the band hit another block while attempting to fill spots for the vocalist and lead guitarist. After being referred by a friend of Paul, Toph Brown stepped in to take the lead mantle, adding an amazing amount of depth to the sound. Finally, to complete the project, Paul went back to an old friend of his known to sing (quite well) on occasion: Matt Keegan. The band wrote a couple of songs before Chris left the band to pursue other interests. Paul then turned to another acquaintance of his, Jacob Onufrychuk to fill the now-vacant rhythm guitar spot. Finally complete, the band played its first gig on November 10th to a packed house at Paul VI. And, as far as we can tell, ears are still ringing...
