This album is not going to make you want to change the world, nor is it going to save the fucked up music industry, but what it will do is make you want to pucker up, bop your head, and dance where you stand. It is a straight up great effort from one of San Antonio's best kept secrets. Since 1994, Lackluster has been putting out material worthy of any major-label-punks out there. Probably one of the most underrated bands in San Antonio, Lackluster has supplied us with yet, and possibly one of their best, albums to date.. Recorded at ITG studios with Wade Parker, who is normally associated with heavy metal giants such as Alienation, Jackie On Acid, and others, makes this album sound down right kick ass. No Turning Back is a collection of punk offerings that are very reminiscent of NOFX, Lagwagon, and Face to Face. The album starts off with the song "5599", which prepares you just right for the rest of the ride. Two songs that stand out are "Constant Reminder" and "No Turning Back". The powerful element of this band has to be the sonic boom that is blasted by drummer Joey (last name unknown), who is also the most negative element of the album. A little variety of rhythms other than the triple time snare would have been nice. However, Lackluster has since replaced Joey with a more jazz influenced drummer, which might be interesting to hear. But don't get me wrong; this album is a very good gift from one of San Antonio's, long over due, up-and-coming bands. A thing that does suck about this album is that it is not released yet. It should be out in October, or November, but if you need a taste, singles are being offered at shows. The bands first full length entitled, Super Sappy, Down Right Crappy, can be picked up at Flipside or Hogwild Record Stores. Check this band out! - R.R
