    Artist History
Robert Ogden was born in Harrogate, read music as a choral scholar at King’s College Cambridge and studied opera at the Royal Northern College of Music. He was a finalist in the Elizabeth Harwood Memorial Competition, the Royal Overseas League Competition and the Great Elm Competition and was awarded the prestigious Curtis Gold Medal for Singing. He studies with Michael Chance and Dinah Harris. Recent opera roles include Kreon in Medea (Rolf Liebermann) for Stadttheater Bern, Switzerland, the understudies of Oberon in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Britten) and the title role in Radamisto (Handel) for Opera North, Ptolomeo in Giulio Cesare (Handel) for the Handel Opera Society, Goffredo in Rinaldo (Handel) at the Bloomsbury Theatre, and Athamus in Semele (Handel) for the RNCM. Robert’s oratorio and concert repertoire is extensive: he has performed in major venues all over England and Germany with conductors such as Richard Hickox, Owain Arwel Hughes and Richard Bradshaw, and orchestras including the Belarus State Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Brandenburger Sinfoniker and the Deutches Kammerorchester Frankfurt am Main. He also performs frequently in recital from a wide repertoire that has included two world premières by Giles Swayne, and has made several broadcasts on BBC, Australian and German radio. Forthcoming engagements include a return to Bern for Orfeo (Monteverdi) in 2003, St. John Passion (Bach) in Southwark Cathedral, and a visit to Rome to work with the Italian composer Maurizio Squillante. In July 2002, Robert makes his U.S. debut as Il Paggetto in Sly (Wolf-Ferrari) for The Washington Opera.
