Artist History
I decided to post all my old works from 1989 though 1996. Its something Ive been procrastinating doing. I figured what the hell, its old to me but new to you.
I didnt go back and retype all the lyrics. It was two much work. I dont think anyone will need them. Most of the lyrics are easy to understand. It was a different writing style and equipment set back then. I used computers ranging from an apple II+ to an Atari 1024ST. If you remember that one your as old as me. It was the computer to have if you were a MIDI musician in 1988. I actually wrote some of the songs in 88 but I didnt record them until I bought a DAT in the Air Force in 1991. Written in Stone was recorded in 1993 and some of the instrumentals were recorded in 1996. Troubled as we was actually just called Soundtrack 1 written in 1996 and didnt acquire its name until I had Shari record vocals for it in 2000. It was the last song we recorded together as Scary Valentine; kind of ironic.
I also posted the Steady State album. You can hear it at www.mp3.com/SteadyState
Hermit Bastard is Scot Gordon, Born June 25, 1970 in Tokyo Japan. At age 15 Scot Gordon started listening to alternative pop artists like Depeche Mode, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, and New Order. Scot decided he wanted to write music after falling in love with the aggressive pop sounds these bands pioneered. So with the help of a loan from his parent’s credit card he acquired his first Synthesizer in 1986. That Synth was a Korg DS-8 Multi-timbral. To be able to write songs Scot bought Passport Master Trax for the Apple II+ and used his headset as a microphone. Scot continued to write songs in his bedroom until he graduated from high school in 1988. After graduation Scot started the band Steady State with his longtime friend Doug Petz. The two continued to write songs until 1990, occasionally performing together at local dance clubs. Deciding that the part time jobs they had were not earning enough money to get the equipment required to perform, they enlisted. During the next four years in the Air Force, Scot continued to write music. Scot managed to write over 40 songs during trips to England, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. In January of 1999, after 3 year break, Scot created Scary Valentine with the amazing female vocalist Shari Valenta. With fresh inspiration coming from bands such as Haujobb, Covenant and Garbage, Scary Valentine created a sound never heard before in the United States. Combining the cutting edge sound of European dance music with moody American choruses, they rendered a unique style of electronic body music. Now working as “Hermit Bastard”, Scot takes on the plight of the single person and the emotions that go with it. Production and recording is accomplished at Gordon’s home studio in Littleton, Colorado. The music is produced using Cakewalk Pro Audio, Alesis, Korg, Roland and a myriad of other home studio equipment. One day, Scot dreams of touring Europe. He also dreams of falling in love and no longer being a single hermit. He will never stop trying |
