Artist History
History
Chris Amos and I first met in the unlikely surroundings
of the Medina Rajneesh commune in 1982.
We were part of a ceilidh band formed with other
commune members, and Chris and I also worked up
some folk song arrangements for various musical
events in the commune's life.
After the commune split up in 1985, we didn't
see each other again until late Summer 1998
when I walked into a folk club in Willesden Green
and Chris was on the door selling the entry tickets.
Soon after that we had agreed to get back and
work on more tunes and songs together.
Chris was looking for someone else to work with
musically and particularly liked the sound of my
Oakwood melodeon, and I was looking for a tame guitarist
to provide some backing for the Balkan dance tunes
that I was playing on concertina and melodeon.
Our repertoire consists of traditional English
songs, preferably songs or versions of songs that
aren't usually heard, for which Chris does a huge
amount of research looking though books from
libraries, and tunes from all over Europe,
including but not limited to England Ireland,
Scotland, Norway, Macedonia and Bulgaria.
