Artist History Devante is an R&B Singer, Songwriter, and Producer. **Featured at The Apollo (west, First Place Winner, singing) on BET (with malonda, next) as Universal Records' #1 R&B Featured Artist, farmclub, The Producer currently behind projects with Interscope Records, Elektra Records, Dreamworks Records, and No Limit Records**. Although Soul/R&B Are his main and preffered Genres of music, Devante is not only very capable, but very talented in not only writing, but performing as well as producing everything from Pop to Jazz to Hip-Hop. Devante started playing instruments at a very early age. His mother noted very early a special ability in him; He would listen to the songs played on television commercials and shows, pick out the parts by ear, and run to his father's Casio keyboard before he could forget, playing the pieces back to himself by ear. His mother encouraged him and supported him, in a very clever way... instead of toys such cars and games, she bought him something he enjoyed even more...musical toys, such as those made by Texas Instruments. "As far as writing goes," recalls Devante, "I still remember the song that really motivated me to start writing. It was a song off the Waiting To Exhale Soundtrack, called Not Gon' Cry, by Babyface for Mary J. Blige." Since that time, Devante has been writing songs, as well as producing music. And it is no wonder why most of his preffered work is smooth, mellow-soul cuts ala Babyface, as heard on Not Gon' Cry. Now, Devante has well over 100 copyrighted original songs, fully written arranged and produced. You can bet that if it's not now, it won't be long from now - but you will be hearing from him soon.
