Artist History
What began as a dream in the early months of high school has turned into much more for the members of slamDaddy. Born from the minds of Ryan Zielonka and James Sutter, the band originally came into being early in the 2000-2001 school year when the pair managed to recruit drummer Megan Edwards and bassist Chuck Rammseyer (who was replaced by Andy Kreek in June of 2001). On March 1st, 2001, the group made its debut performance to a crowd of 40 at the Sammamish Public Library. The show was surprisingly successful, and would lead the quartet to clubs all over the greater Seattle area, including (but not limited to) the Old Redmond Firehouse, the Ballard Firehouse, Ground Zero, Club Impact, and Skyline High School, where they placed first at the 2002 Talent Show and performed the next morning for over fifteen hundred students. Where Didn't we Stick It?, slamDaddy's first EP, was released in April of 2002 and helped earn the group favorable reviews in the Bellevue Community College Jibsheet and the Skyline High School Horizon. On March 29, 2003, the group combined the release of their second EP, A Kick in the Junk, with a 2nd place win at the 2003 Cedarcrest Battle of the Bands, earning praise from all the celebrity judges. Most notable was Geoff Tate, lead singer of Queensryche, and his high regard for the band's songwriting and performance. At the time of this writing, slamDaddy is seeing play on several radio stations, including the UW’s RainyDawg Radio and 90.3 FM KEXP. -APRIL, 2003 |

Press Reviews
"I have ethics, dude, and if it weren't good, I'd say so, but slamDaddy's frenzy of heavy punk rock is good." - Megan Seling, The Stranger. Vol 13 No. 4, Oct 9 - Oct 15 2003. "Underage", pg. 65.
"Good players. Tight band. Would like to hear [their] CD."- Geoff Tate of Queensryche on sD's live show. March 29, 2003.
"Excellent songwriting. "Kindled"... reminded me of vintage Bad Religion."- Abe Beeson of KEXP 90.3 FM on slamDaddy's live show. March 29, 2003
"They brought down the house at Skyline High School's talent show and did it again at the winter sports assembly. Both of these crowds went wild, their standing ovations evidence of approval. It is without a doubt that the band 'Slamdaddy' has a bright future for fame and fortune."- Allyson Aquino, Skyline Forum. June 7, 2002.
"[slamDaddy] has it all: fast rhythms, penetrating guitar solos and pure talent.... create a sound that not only reminds you of your favorite rock bands, but has something new to offer as well.... the coolest and most friendly group of kids I have ever met.... plenty of leeway to become successful.... I got the feeling I was at a Blink182 show. (But even better!) If you have gone to a New Found Glory concert and watched them jump around onstage, you have the right idea... this group gets into their performance and definitely let you know that they're having a good time."- Matt Leschuck, BCC Jibsheet. May 8, 2002. |
