Artist History
Rob Sauthoff grew up in Queens, NY. New York is the birth place for notable contemporary R&B and hip hop legends such as Mary J. Blige, Nas, LL Cool J and many more. Robs love for music started during his childhood. Through out his grade school years Rob participated in school productions and the church choir.. His early musical influences were very diverse from R&B, soul and pop acts. "I listened to Whitney, Aretha, Amy Grant, Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan and so many more. I listened to everything from 106.7 Light FM to Kiss FM to 95.5 WPLJ."
Rob began writing songs at the young age of 10 and he kept writing songs all the time. One amazing fact which always catches peoples interest is that Rob was only 13 when he went to a recording studio for the first time. He went in with the engineer and he wrote, produced and arranged a song titled "Only You" all on his own. No professional producers to help or do the work for him... just Rob. And for a 13 year old who had not too much knowledge of the business, that is amazing.
Rob continued to go to recording studios and record as much as he could. Throughout High School (Valley Stream North High School) Rob would refine his craft, record and perform in many local talent shows and even almost land a record deal in 1999. In 2000 Rob entered Nassau Community College, majoring in journalism. He would go on to have his own column in The Inside Connection, allowing him to interview artists such as Case, A+, AG and CEO Steve Stoute. "That
was a great way to network and learn about the business". During this time Rob also started to meet and work with different producers on demos and independent projects. He would use this more as a way to watch producers and to learn and further refine his skill and gain more knowledge about the business. Now, six years in the business, Rob has decided to focus on his songwriting skills. With recent collaborations with established producer Dinky Bingham (New Edition, Changing Faces) Milini Khan and singer/ songwriter Delilah Harris, Rob is ready to take the industry by storm.
"Real pure R&B soul music is what I love and want to make. We need more of it", Rob explains when asked about what inspires him.Currently Rob is shopping his music as well as continuing to collaborate and create beautiful music and maintaining a career in journalism.
