Artist description
Obligerant formed in late 2001 as a duo consisting of Herb Ubiz and Frank Lee O'Bligerant and recorded many of the songs on "Songs About Not Liking Stuff..." in December 2001 to January 2002. Several small shows at house parties followed and the Obligerant legend grew. The debut CD received strong airplay on college radio stations and was in the top five at KSUN from January through June. In the summer of 2002 Obligerant headed back into their studio, this time with drummer Phil Pujols and recorded their follow-up live CD. This CD shows a band that has grown musically and is unafraid of tackling new styles and experimenting with new songwriting styles. The following shows incorporated songs from the first CD as well as some of the songs from "Obligerant Live" and were chaotic sonic adventures which were accentuated by the showmanship of Frank and Herb as well as the monstrous beats of Phil pounding the skins. In August of 2003 Obligerant was shaken by the untimely death of drummer Phil Pujols. Never ones to give up Herb and Frank pushed forward and found a new drummer, Justin Sertit, who attacks the kit with ferocity and obligerance and the new trio continue on just as Phil would have wanted. |
