Artist description Mess - fresh, young jazz music from Sweden The band was started in the spring of 1999 when drummer Johan Björklund graduated from the Gothenburg University of Music. The response was overwhelming and the band has since then toured extensively in Sweden. In may 2002 they released their first CD "I manegen" (In the manége) on the Swedish independent label Apparat Records The music on the record is composed and arranged by Johan Björklund and is highly representable of the music the band has been playing live for the last couple of years. The recording took place in Apparat Studios, Gothenburg in February 2002. Johan is basically a jazz drummer, but is also very interested in many other styles of music, and in his music, you can hear influences from drum&bass, heavy metal, various ethnic music as well as pop. If you are a pessimist, this might sound like a real "bitches brew", but we think it is just the opposite: it is music that sound like nothing else -new, quite simply.
