Artist description
Welcome, Comrade, to my New Red Anger!
Simply put, Indoctri-Nation is a ticking time bomb. From its humble beginning in the fall of 2001 when V. 'Lenin' Visk took his two passions: politics and music, and fused the best elements of industrial, punk and new wave into a minimalist four song demo. "I started this as a joke-mainly for my own enjoyment-by using every cliche I could think of in industrial music: techno rhythms, synthetic blips and bleeps, big guitars and over-processed vocals," said V. 'Lenin' Visk, founder and leader of the politically charged and fast and furious project that is Indoctri-Nation. "Even the name was a play on those very cliches."
"But the joke was on Me," said Lenin. In the early spring of 2002, Lenin upgraded his four- track cassette to an eight-track reel, re-recorded his demo plus five new songs, called it New Red Anger, and passed it around to a few friends. "It was a shock to find that something I did for fun actually made an impact." Just two week later, he was approached by a local Industrial promoter who wanted Lenin to perform live. "Next thing I know, I've got to start a bloody band." Indoctri-Nation made their live debut June 19, 2002, filling a small club almost to capacity. Two songs, Freedom and Accept and Obey are receiving some club-play-and the questions about future releases keep coming.
When asked about the politics, Lenin will only say that Indoctri-Nation is for Liberty and Individuality and against the forms of group and security like Fascism and Socialism. He doesn't buy the anti-capitalist lines of the left nor does he condone the big-corporate machinations of the right. "I've never aligned myself with any group, I've been outside all groups, and no matter what 'group' would happen to gain control, I would be a danger," Lenin said with an anticipatory grin. ". . . and I relish it!"
Indoctri-Nation (as in brainwashed nation) is the band.
"Something about Indoctri-Nation reminds me of vintage NIN and Killing Joke. It captures some of the same synth-electronica meets industrial guitar - some of the only things the eighties coughed up which are still worth our while." -from a review of Indoctri-Nation on electromancer.com
"While I can't stand that Industrial / disco s---, I find 'Freedom' to be a rare gem. It rocks on so many levels-its kinda okay for disco s---." -Ollie Stench, bassist of the street punk band The Subversives.
"Your politics suck, Billy, but Accept and Obey is a great tune. Not many can do the slow, heavy dance music like [Accept and Obey]" -Dj Panic, Saloon and Ground Zero nightclubs, Mpls Mn
"[V. 'Lenin' Visk is] animated and extremely charismatic" -Eden Taylor of All The Pretty Horses
"I can't get [Freedom] out of my head, you f-ing bastard" -a new fan upon seeing Indoctri-Nation's debut performance.
