    Artist description
Galaxy Rodeo emerged during the early months of 2001 from the ashes of New York bands Let’s Get Naked and Thunderbolt. Originating as a guitar duo, the band experimented with various musicians and instrumentations before solidifying their line up with Pi a Vivas on guitar and vocals, Jordyn Bonds on bass, and Tiffany Almy on drums. They began playing in New York bars and clubs in the summer of 2001 and soon captured a devoted local following. In September Jordyn and Pia led a Ladyfest-East music worksho p and in October the band headed into the studio and recorded their first self-titled EP heard on WRBC Radio Bates College, Lewiston, Maine. Galaxy’s rhythm guitarist, Pia Vivas, is a veteran of three all-girl rock bands – Let’s Get Naked, Thunderbolt, a nd Transistor– and has been playing music since the age of seven. Her musical influences include garage punk, new-wave and Brit-pop. Jordyn, who began her musical life playing classical piano, also doubles as the bass player for internationally released indie-rockers Polaris Mine. Her musical influences range from mainstream pop to grind-core. Tiffany has been playing drums for 13 years and now divides her time between rocking, studying law, and investigating undercover for the state of New York. Her musical influences include indie-rock and pop. Merging sci-fi with lo-fi, Galaxy Rodeo takes the best of rock and roll and distills an unexpected, but undeniably captivating sound. Powerful riffs, catchy melodies, and the determination to rock make the music at once energetic, lush and driving. Galaxy Rodeo breathes fresh life into the tropes of rock and pop – urging you to turn the stereo up and sing along at the top of your lungs. o.
