Artist History
Dorian's roots can be traced back to the late 1980's when drummer Trent Lochridge and guitarist Jason Villa began making music together. They could only play on weekends since they were still in elementary school. Once they reached junior high school they had formed a full band, playing simple rock and roll. After a few gigs and once they entered high school, Trent and Jason began practicing with bass player AAron (Tim) Caldwell. The three had fun jamming some hard rock together on weekends, but the band never played any shows. Trent and Jason started playing with a different bass player, found a singer, and made music with this band for about a year. They played at school functions and high school parties. Then a new band formed with a different singer and Tim back on bass. They played in a more punk rock style, and found lots of places toplay. After the singer moved, Mike Guerrero took over as singer and the four began making a heavier, funky style of music. They called themselves Rocky VI and existed for over five years and played lots of gigs in many venues. Then in early 2001, Jason decided to leave the band and move away to school.
This is where Dorian starts. Trent, Tim and Mike wanted to keep making music together; so long time friend and member of the Rocky VI family Kevin Thayer began playing guitar with the other three. They call themselves Dorian and have chosen to make the kind of rockin' music that they all know they should. Rather than picking up where Rocky VI left off, the band chooses to consider Dorian a whole new beginning.
After Forming a solid unit, Dorian played many shows at different venues and also recorded a 10 song demo at Wet Studios in late 2001. Soon after the recording was finished Tim decided to pursue his education and moved to Portland, Oregon during the early year of 2002. Without a bass player Dorian looked once again into the "family" and started playing with Sean Barrett. A brother of a longtime close friend, Sean was a great fit and Dorian has begun once again to continue to progress and write interesting music drawing from a vast pool of influences. |
